I have a range of skills and interests away from the day job. I like to help and get involved in other organisations. Not only do I think I have skills and experience that can help others, but non executive roles and trustee roles are a fantastic way for me to learn too, and to keep current with developments both in and out of my own sector. It’s a win win situation.
It’s also true that very often the best ideas are the ones you get from looking outside of the familiar,- a depth of knowledge across several organisations and sectors is really useful. Combinational thinking. It’s the way forward.
I’m proud to be involved with several organisations currently.
University of Nottingham SUS Limited
I sit as a Non Executive Director on this board, advising on strategy and operational performance. It’s a company that provides services to the 40,000 students of the University, in Nottingham, China and Malaysia.
The business I founded. It’s activities are now being run by someone more able to devote time to travelling around the world.
Projects I’ve overseen and managed have been finalists in the World Chamber Awards every time we entered. In addition I organised and ran the largest ever inward trade mission from South East Asia, and the first UK Govt recognised mission from Cambodia. I have also bid for, developed, and delivered capacity building, training, international trade development, and strategy training courses in over 16 countries.
I am a Non Executive Director of a Multi Academy Trust, where I also Chair their audit committee.
